Golden Brown Gunselbert Cobnuts

The Gunselbert originated in Germany and is a cultivar of the wild hazelnut. It retains the same round shape as the original hazel nut unlike the Lambert's Filbert, Kentish Cobnut with its ovoid shape. Gunselbert trees produce large clusters of nuts with short frilly husks. Gunselberts ripen about a month later than Kentish Cobnuts. Gunselberts have a distinctive nutty flavour and are best eaten fresh or roasted and used in cakes and desserts. They don't have the same keeping qualities as Kentish Cobnuts. Most growers use the Gunselbert as a pollinator for the Kentish Cobnut and do not sell them separately. We think Gunselberts should be appreciated in there own right. We are selling them separately so you can taste the difference.

Farnell Farm cobnuts are grown without the use of pesticides, fertilizers or other chemicals. We have a wonderful workforce of ladybirds and pheasants, which keep the pests under control.
